For the 2018 ARCH Home and Garden Tour, we are pleased to partner with the Illsley Place Neighborhood Association. Join us for a tour of nine historic homes, the 07 Pub (opens at 4pm), Modern Mill, and CookSpring Shared Kitchen.
Illsley Place, located near Foster Park in Fort Wayne and platted in 1923 by developer W.E. Doud, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as an example of historic trends in the development and growth of Fort Wayne, and its connection to the city’s planning and beautification. It also contains outstanding examples of many architectural housing styles including Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Spanish Eclectic, French Eclectic, and Italianate.
Illsley Place has been proved enduring as the small and quiet street has maintained its standing as a much-desired residential address over nearly a century. As the developers’ publicity proclaimed, “Nature, assisted by the hand of man, has done much for Illsley Place. Its high elevation assures perfect drainage, its location provides peaceful quietude. Graceful maples, sturdy oaks and beautiful shrubbery adorn nearly every home site.”
